Couple Renovates Bathroom for Accessibility
A middle-aged couple contacted Badger Granite about providing the final touches to their bathroom once it was renovated for with accessibility features. They were referred to us by a past customer who had bathroom vanities installed in their restroom.
The couple had an accident a few years back that left the wife disabled. So they were slowly making improvements in the home that would enable her to maneuver throughout the home and use appliances as needed. The bathroom was one area that needed to be remodeled with shorter vanities, a shorter toilet, a bathtub with a door, seats in the shower stall and bar grips throughout.
The remodeling work was performed by another contractor, but Badger Granite was later hired to provide the stone countertops, tile backsplash in the tub and shower. Our professionals were also to install everything for the couple.
Our First Appointment
We began this journey in our showroom where the couple was able to view our selection of stones. This includes a variety of colors and styles of materials, such as quartz, granite and marble. The couple arrived early and took a look around at our products. We also showed some of the various edge styles we can create for the slabs.
In order to give them more perspective of how the finished product would look, we showed our portfolio of bathroom and kitchen counters with the varying styles. This really allowed them to choose the color, type of stone and edge style they preferred.
They decided to go with the bevel edge in both of the bathrooms. The granite slabs they picked out were dark gray with white and black specks. It suited the dark gray tile they wanted installed in the shower and bathtub areas as well.
Measure Twice, Cut Once
Once the couple agreed on the slabs they wanted, we came out to their home the following day to perform measurements of the bathroom vanity. At the last minute, the couple decided they wanted to have the same counters installed in their guest bathroom. This was fine, since we had a stockroom of the same granite stone.
Our professionals took measurements of both vanities, as well as the wall inside the shower stall and bath area. We always make sure to take measurements multiple times to ensure accuracy. After all of the proper measurements were taken, we got to work fabricating the slab pieces for their master and guest bathrooms. We also made sure to bring sufficient amounts of tile for the backsplash walls that would go inside the master bath.
The Installation Process
Within 72 hours of the couple contacting us, we were at their home performing the installation work. The bathroom vanities had no counters to remove, since they were brand new. The previous contractors left them bare, making our job faster and easier. Our installation crew installed the counters first, then got to work installing the tile in the shower stall and the bath wall across from it.
The entire process only took a day’s worth of hard work. The couple was very happy with the speed and quality of our craftsmanship. They were very satisfied with the final outcome, especially the wife, who had been wanting to upgrade their home bathrooms for a few years now.
