West Allis, WI Property Owner Remodels Home with Granite Counters and Tile

west allis wisconsinWest Allis is a Wisconsin city found inside Milwaukee County. It’s a suburban community that is within the Milwaukee metro area. As of 2010, the population was over 60,400 people. The name of the city comes from a man named Edward P. Allis, the owner of Edward P. Allis Company. This was a major manufacturing company back in the latter 19th century. Later on, the company was named Allis-Chalmers.

At the time, the area was known as North Greenfield. Before that, during the 1880s, it was known as Honey Creek. The company plant, as well as the community was incorporated and was called Village of West Allis. In 1906, it was changed to the City of West Allis.

Because of the Allis-Chalmers plant, the city of West Allis grew in popularity. It became not only a suburban community, but one of the largest in Milwaukee during the beginning of the 20th century. From there, the population continued to grow fast. It grew fivefold from 1910 to 1930. The Almis-Chalmers company started to go downhill by 1985, when its global workforce shrunk from 31,000 to 13,000.

Home Remodeling Project in West Allis

The experts at Badger Granite were contacted by a family in West Allis. Their property was an older model home and the kitchen and master bath needed some updating. The home was recently purchased by the couple and now they needed to make it more livable. The kitchen had rundown counters, sinks and flooring. And the same was seen in the master bath. They had already updated the guest bathroom, though it wasn’t 100% to their liking.

They decided to use our stone slabs to update the guest bathroom. The measurements were taken from one of our contractors and a quote was provided. The estimate given was agreed upon with the couple and we began fabricating the counters, tiles and setting aside the sinks for the installation. Not long after, we were at the couples’ home performing the job.

Satisfied Customers in West Allis

It didn’t take a long time to complete the work needed by this fine couple. This and the quality of our craftsmanship was what pleased the customers. The quality of the materials was superb and the attention to detail applied by our contractors were unmatched.

Not too long after, they rehired us to work on the bathroom they recently built in the basement.

Upgrading with Granite Slabs

The fabrication of the granite countertops and tiles were seamless. Since our experts did the measurements, we knew the cuts would be perfect. We arrived to the property and started removing the countertops and flooring from the kitchen area.

The floors were made with broken cheap tile. And the countertops were made of a laminate material that was burned, scratched and warped. Our professionals started with the flooring, laying down the tile the couple selected from our showroom.

Then the granite stone slabs to be used for the countertops were also gray. This nicely matched the tile flooring. The granite stone was sealed by our professionals to ensure they last a long time without scratches and cracks. The couple chose a granite counter because of its durability and resistance to high heat. The wife liked to do a lot of cooking, which made this option the best one.

In the master bathroom, the floors were pulled up, along with the countertop, which was made from laminate. The new granite stone slab was white with black specks. The tile floors were to be black and white to match the granite stone. The result was fabulous and tasteful.

Last, was the guest bathroom, which needed the countertop replaced. Everything looked great except the counter, which was made from a cheap vinyl material. The granite stone chosen here was a forest green to match the maroon and other earth tones of the restroom.

The entire project took two days to complete. It was quick and easy, and our customers were in love with the new look and feel of the kitchen and bathroom countertops.
